Its very quiet, but could this terrible radio be made to work?

The forum is quiet, so is this radio.

Bought for scrap in an auction, its a bit of a horror, as in Frankenstein's personal wireless?
No makers name, no clues either.

Cabinet looks home made. Chassis looks to be in part a production item but massively altered and modified.
Huge odd speaker, permanent magnet, with output transformer mounted on the basket, held in the cabinet with no less than 11 woodscrews of sizes various! 

Is there anyone out there with enough interest to respond? 
If there is a bit of interest shown I will do a photo shoot and article on the efforts made to get it to produce some sound.

I am a tease in an attempt to rattle up some comments on the forum before I quit for the winter, it has been depressingly quiet here in the last several months.

OK, I will try to drop some photos here.

Initial findings in amongst the dust.
13A fuse in the plug of course!

There were 2 nasty, homemade ally heat reflectors in the top of the cabinet connected to the chassis which is earthed. The cabinet looks to be homemade and is quite crude.
The speaker cone edge is completely detached from the basket and the output transformer is O/C. The 11 screws were probably to clamp it tight to the fret!
There was a change over switch and jack socket on the speaker leads, removed. Could be why the transformer is O/C.
Valves, VR99, VR56, VR55, 6V6G, 5Z4G. Ex RAF front end valves, roughly equivalents to X66, EF36 and EBC33.
Decent looking mains transformer which will need checking out prior to power on.
One electrolytic can is dated Jan 48, I bet its not much good. Made by BL Callenders which is a new one to me. Seems to be the precursor to BICC.
The chassis in the main looks to be a production job, the RF section with wave change switch and its coils and trimmers seems to be part and parcel to the chassis but the back edge has been mutilated and the rear section bolted on.
The tuning capacitor, 2 section, has an illuminated slot, slow motion drive, which lights the tuning scale as a pointer. Thankfully no dial cords!!
The tuning scale seems to be celluloid and badly distorted by heat. There is no makers name on it.
There is a huge tag panel carrying most of the resistors and capacitors oddly mounted at an angle underneath.
So it appears to be a mash up of ex gov bits added to an existing chassis. I have no idea what the original chassis could have been used in, anyone got a clue?

I will progress towards getting it going again.

In Windows and Linux there are freely available utilities that allow you to right click on an image and choose to reduce its size. In Windows (and Linux with WINE) I also use the excellent (and free) Irfanview to do simple image manipulation. If you're on a Mac or a phone then others will have to say how to do it.

I googled "reduce image file size free" and got loads of possible methods. In many of them you drag the image on to a box in a website and it sends it back compressed.

I did use a compression program and it reduced some of the images to below 2MB but it only allows me to download one photo at a time to the forum.
I'll try again when I have more time and patience.

I use the free tool Xnview for image manipulation, it easily resizes images from my camera to a suitable size for viewing in emails and online posts. When images are resized to 1024 pixel width the file size is usually then small enough to upload here. I started to use this when I used WIndows, there is a version for LInux too, download here: https://www.xnview.com/en/

Just open it in an image editor and set the image to 1024 X768 and save it with an extra letter on the filename if you want to keep the original.
It works on all forums except one that reduces all images to 800 X 600.
