I think there is an option in the Pi Loader to select an image file, you can download a windows or Mac version of the Loader as well as a version for the pi itself.

I had success using an older version of the operating system.
I tried the two earlier versions and I found that raspios_armhf-2024-03-13/ 2024-03-13 12:12 - does not work raspios_armhf-2023-12-06/ 2023-12-06 02:23 - does work. Vintage modes showing up on the GUI and can be selected. Frank

Good news Frank, I’ll stay away from ‘updates’ button for now. Tried Real VNC on my iPhone to control and it worked well though no audio, so decided to upgrade the App to latest version and now I can’t login again…But while it worked was a useable way of controlling the pi in headless mode. The desktop size takes a little getting used to. When there is another pull available that is compatible with the latest Raspian I’d like to try installing Kodi and see how easy it will be to use as a media server.

You don't need Kodi for a media server. Though its GUI looks like it's designed for an SD TV about 2.5m away. However years since i tried it.

I tried out 819 lines an it works OK.
The picture quality should be good. But I cant tell as the 819 line TV I have, a Sony 9-90 UM is really rubbish. The pictures below are 625, 405 and 819 lines. As I have said the Sony 819 line TV is really rubbish the picture is just to show it works and by no means to judge image quality. Frank

You could try putting the 819 video signal into the 405 monitor. It stands a good chance of locking with two half-width pictures side by side.
When 819 was still used in France, enthusiasts on the south coast could often see this.

Hi Jeffrey
I did and it does lock. Its odd seeing two cursors on screen and trying just to concentrate on one. Frank |
