End of CorelDraw Home and Student X8 Ver.

Well I tried my Ver of CorelDRAW on a W7 laptop and it runs. In the early days I remember folks used to run two hard drives with different OP systems and switch between them, on start up, in the bios. Now there has been talk of W7 emulators that run inside W10 if I understand it right.

Does anyone do this to run old software? If so could they recommend the program and how to set it up?

For a vector drawing program consider Affinity Designer. It’s a one-off old-fashioned licence payment in tens of £ sterling. What’s more it is British.

It is the equivalent and equal of Adobe Illustrator. The Affinity suite has been making inroads into the Adobe (subscription) dominated pro design market and also have Photo and Publisher which are head to head with Photoshop and InDesign.

I used to like a drawing program called Aldus Freehand. I have an ancient 2001 Mac on which I keep a lot of long-defunct but useful programs that don’t have a feature to make them ‘phone home’. I would periodically briefly connect to the net to enable the old Adobe Photoshop to continue – it dated from the time when constant connection to the internet wasn’t general – but eventually they did switch me off.

That looks a useful and powerful package for not much money. Just would need more time to get to grips with it. Why at 80+ am I still so busy ?
