Pye 123 but jewel case

I have a Pye 123 but the case is not like a 123BQ with a top handle but a jewel case like a battery valve radio.  The top opens, 2 catches  and the radio is on a lift up board with 2 chrome screws holding it down The inside electronics and battery boxes  looks to be the same. 
Is this an odd model as I can find nor references to it?

There are three earlier "Jewel case" models using valves.

There though at least 3 versions of the P123x but none are case style.

Unfortunately, none of the above!

When I get back I will send some photos of it but it will be September now.

No chrome panels, all rexine. The lift up panel with the gubbings on is white rexine.

Then it's not a Jewel case model. They are only chrome panels.

There is an Invicta that's picnic / hat box style that uses the P123 chassis. Invicta = Pye.

is it a briefcase style handle on case or a long metal rod with plastic handle.

I may have a case style set in the attic that's white Rexine but it might not be transistor or Pye.

Does this set actually have Pye P123xx on it somewhere?

Its an Invicta, no marks, no badges. I knew the inside was PYE 123, it confused me as to the branding. Thanks Mike.

Invicta models often have no model number and only the pony badge or logo, if even that!

Glad mystery solved. Likely not as a common as the regular Pye style.

Is it preset or tunable LW? The Pye P123xx had both versions.

It took a while to figure out the make and model. I didn't know about the pony or horse then, which is the only ID. The Pye version has same PCB but no built in mains adaptor. The PAM version is the same insides (mains option) but a different style case.

The Invicta 28 is the same as the Jewel case model but rexine, no chrome panel https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/invicta_28.html The Invicta 29 simply adds mains and unusually uses a parallel shunt selenium rectifier and series resister to have the 1.35V rather than the 6.8V common on 7.5V series battery valve sets. Two series 1N4007 as parallel shunt and changing series resistor will work, but is over run if only 1 or 2 valves fitted. As will 2 x 1N5407. The lower PIV 1N400x and 1N540x don't have as much forward drop at the same current.

The 1960 Pye Q3 employs a chassis which is a development of the model P123BQ. Q3 employs an output transformer instead of the high-impedance centre tapped loudspeaker as used in the earlier models.
