how do you tin silk covered litz wire ?

I need to rewire an SME series 3 arm wand but need to use silk covered litz wire.
Now when i had the shop we had a solder pot so no problem.
Needless to say i no longer have a solder pot.
So advice please ,or how do you do it ?

The modern litz just tins as it's not silk, it melt with iron.
For the real stuff, char at edge of a birthday candle flame and then scratch it/scrape gently with iron.

Thanks for the reply Mike it is modern .
I have 3 meters so i can afford to experiment a bit.
A guy on utube suggested burning ff the covering and quickly dipping into ethanol,
When i have had to repair ferric rod aerials where the litz wire has broken away from the pcb i have just used a very hot iron and not bothered stripping the covering this has worked ok.
but because the wire has to be connected to small pins i need to tin the wire first.

Always just used to singe (using a small meths burner - leaves no soot) then roll the exposed strands gently between a small piece of (dry) fine wet-and-dry, then lightly stab into some Fluxite and tin...

As an emergency repair on a tone arm I once used the contents of an earbud cable with the outer stripped away, it tinned with just a hot iron, the "customer" is a local DJ, and even after three years he tells me that the dance floor repair still works, wish I'd charged, who else goes to a wedding reception with a portasol iron in their top pocket?
