PYE Chassis paint colour?

Guys,

I'm thinking of doing a complete chassis restore on my PYE P53 and was wondering if anyone knows the correct paint colour for it and whether it's available anywhere.  Most of the blue/grey paint is peeled off the chassis and I'd like to re-paint with the correct colour.

P35, P53 and T19/D are all so similar it makes you wonder why they bothered. Unfortunately P53 is one I haven't got and I didn't think the other two had painted Chassis.
Do I have to go up to the Attics and look?

My T19D proved to be more accessible than I expected, and its Chassis is indeed painted pale Blue/Grey - so much for my memory.
How on earth I tell you exactly what colour it is I don't know. If I was at work I'd have access to Colour Charts.
Any ideas?

Well there's plenty of colour left on mine but, with so many bits that are flaked off, it doesn't look very nice.  I was just wondering if the colour happens to be one that is produced these days.  I'll chip some it off a go round the local hardware place and see if I can find a close match.

Back when I did the original restore I had to make a new cab for it so most of my attention went into that.  I got the chassis working but I didn't really do a proper restore on it.   I'm thinking it's time to have the chassis look nice as well as the cab.

Don't know about the colour for Pyes, but Gary put me onto Halford's own brand paint in Ford 'Dove Grey' which is an excellent match for Ekco chassis. Acrylic too, so being water based, doesn't have a strong odour. Having de-rusted a chassis, I sprayed it with high-build acid etch grey car body primer (readily available on e-bay), then a couple of coats of Dove Grey.

(Not very helpful to you in Geneva though John).

Most decent sized towns have firms that will colour match any paint and mix an aerosol - there's one a couple of miles from me. If you take an item, they hold shade cards (with 20mm holes in them) over the item to get a match, then mix the paint. Not cheap, but at least there's no P&P to add to the price.

I had one of these made up when doing a re-spray on my Yaesu FT101ZD top cover, the local supplier of car refinishing products made it, as David says not cheap, about £14 but it was a perfect match, don't think I'd spend that much on a chassis though, I'd look for one nearest to the colour in local DIY shops etc.

Yes, at this stage picking the nearest colour I can find is plan A.   I've got a few other projects to get out of the way first so won't get to it for a few weeks yet.
