I use the word iconic as I can't think of any else, I once saw a TV program about some well noted American black and white photographers and I am trying to track down (on the web) one of the photo's I saw, I can't remember the date but I'm guessing 30's to 50's
It was of a bloke coming out of a shop/ office building into the street, it was a bright day and the photographer captured the moment where the bloke in question was stepping out of the doorway/entrance on to the sidewalk so half of him was in the dark and the other half of him was in the light, would anyone in the know remember the photograph and/or photographer, it's quite a famous photo I think.
