Al, I've not discounted screws and nuts, from the outside it is easy to make screws heads look like rivet heads by grinding the heads down and to the right shape, using either stainless steel or aluminium machine screws would give a similar self colour to the rest of the bright metal fittings on the unit.
Whichever way it's a fair way off yet but just throwing a few ideas around in the meantime.
Another possibility is that the edges of the metal retaining strips don't quite line up with the edge of the window opening in the panel, this leaves a very narrow "landing" all the way round for the replacement Perspex to sit on, width wise the perspex could be cut very slightly oversize, height wise it would have to be cut for an exact fit, with the width slightly oversize then the perspex can be bent slightly when inserting and then released so it slots in under the respective retaining strips on either side of the panel once all the old Perspex has been removed, hard to explain in words but definately do able.
Lawrence.
