I have heard that Pat Hawker has passed away, a sad loss.

It is a sad loss. I was reading one of his books last night, and it always amazes me that someone could know so much about a subject as he did.

Pat lived a long and eventful life during which he gained the respect and admiration of amateurs the world over. Hiis 'Technical Topics' in RSGB's Radcom ran for fifty years. TT was also published in book form and I have several volumes, which I often thumb through. Wonderful guy, sadly missed.

The tribute from the R.S.G.B. Web Site, "Amateur Radio has lost one of its legends" is an appropriate eulogy.

However, his words of wisdom, guidance, sheer technical 'know-how', occasionally tempered by his dry wit, will live on in the many publications that bear his name & which reside in my technical library.

My sincere condolences to his family.

They sure will Al, I remember his television broadcasts as well, Pat was loved by all.

I remember him best for his work on the Newnes (et al) 'red' books - Radio and Television Servicing. One of the greats in radio, he will be much missed, along with John Reddihough and LLJ. Even more so, now there are so few people with his knowledge and expertise left. There will soon become a time when there are none, and the world will be sadder for it in my view. For my sins, I still miss Mr. Camm...
