I intend doing the minimum of work on this set. Looking at R&TVS It looks like I will have to change "them" caps c67 and c68 they look like electrolytic but am sure they are not, the red ends are bulging. I intend using the yellow BVWS .047 1000vdc. The tone correction caps c71,c72 are .002 300vac what value is best for today's listening? I will also have to change the 2 mains input caps, could I try it with them out of circuit?. I wounder if the speaker will take the full 7 watts! after nearly 50years, maybe better not try. If I have got anything wrong I would like to know before I start. Thank you, John.

Hi John,

C67 & C68 you are correct they are not electrolytics .047uF as you know are fine, as for the tone caps ,try it and see you can always change values to brighten, of soften. RFI Filter caps can be left out see how it goes, if you find it needs them, put X2 rated in place.

I have attached the original PYE service manual which you will find useful and the cap designations are the same R&TS used.
