Big isolation transformer

Hi everybody,
after an abscence from working on valved equipment due to new house renovations, work, etc etc I have started back in the workshop a while ago I was given a 10kva isolation transformer from a factory, I asked a question a while back, was to it to powerfull and would it cause problems like in rush surge knocking out the fuse board.
I can't seem to find my previous thread so I am going to ask again due to it being large and getting in the way.

That's a pretty serious transformer. My 15A (call it 4kVA) Variac takes out 13A fuses and 32A Type B Breakers at switch on. I run it on a 16A Type C Breaker. That's usually OK. I think you'd need a big supply unless you can arrange to switch it on gently. Once youv'e managed that you'e only got the magnetising current plus the load current. On the other hand a fault on the Secondary side would still produce a serious fault current. I'd leave it alone.

Hi Alan,
yes still kicking hope you and the family are well, I just spotted your email tonight as havent been on the web very often.
I did think it was rather overkill and it weighs 85kg so not the lightest of things but did't want to offend by turning it down.
Looks like the scap yard for it then.

Indeed it will be shame but can't see much other use, I would stick it on the ebay if it wasn't for the weight
