I'm working on an Irish b5if72a, I told a guy who worked for my dad many years ago, that I'd not charge him to get it going but when I opened it out I discovered someone had pushed a knitting needle or similar through the speaker cloth and put 7 holes through the diaphragm.
It still works surprising enough, getting RTE 1 on long-wave, a French station and a weak BBC. There's very little volume on MW, unless I put my hand on the ferrite aerial, then it's a bit better volume full on. The 2 short-wave lengths are quite good at night. No FM. I listened to Radio Tywan broadcasting English lang' last night
I saw where a guy on Golborne used a Tesco hemp shopping bag for a speaker cloth, so worked at this today, [last 2 pics]. I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out. There's a brass embellishment missing on one side [front] I'm thinking now of removing other side and painting behind it as I'll guild the front edge any way.
Best regards, Mait
