Ruth and I went to the re-opening performance at the Alexandra Palace theatre yesterday.

I have never been to the theatre, but was most impressed at how beautiful the area looked as I went there from the train station, for an exibition, up the hill through the park a few years ago. So tranquil in comparison to the image of London.

That photo was taken in half darkness with a floodlight off to one side. Hardly surprising it's a bit grainy.

The view from the terrace at AP is great. Whole swathe of London from East of Docklands to the West End. London has plenty of calm spots. Even in the centre you can find quiet side streets and the odd small square or park. Then there are the great Royal parks (Hyde, Green, Regents and further out there's Hampstead Heath, Richmond Park and much more.

When we went yesterday the air was quite clear and the light was good. The masts at Crystal Palace and Croydon way over the other side of London both stood out clearly.
