Rccording Programs from the I-player

By which i mean, burning to a CDR or RW, or syncing to n I-pod or MP3 player.  Is any of this possible?.  In the past I've listened to various programs 'after the event' via the I-player, but cannot see any way to download them, e.g., to Windows media Player, and thence copy them to some other device.

The BBC don't intend you to be able to record programmes from the iplayer.

Googling  recording programs from bbc iplayer gives lots of hits. I tried a few years ago with limited success. Also beware of viruses etc since this is just the sort of hacking that invites malware.

Since posting my question, Jeffrey, I've discovered that the BBC doesn't support Widows media Player anymore, but haven't checked anything else other than teir own websites, in this case, Radio 4.

AFAIK BBC Iplayer uses Flash. Ugh. Not sure how it works on devices that don't support flash such as Ipads.

They are migrating from Flash to HTML5. Hooray!

AFAIK Windows media player (like your typo ) was never involved in showing BBC content.

Windows Media Player USED to be used to play things which had been downloaded — other players couldn't deal with the getting the DRM licenses.

I record I player radio programs regularly. From the analogue audio output of the pc to my minidisk, quality is fine.

This is known as the analogue hole. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Analog_hole It's also possible to route the sound card's output back to the line input, then use Audacity or whatever to do the recording on the PC. I think it's also possible to do this within the sound card by using the correct settings. http://www.ehow.com/how_6828062_connect-...input.html I think this is entirely digital but I'm not sure.

One of the forum staff (I won't name him but it's easy to guess) probably has a fair amount of detailed knowledge on the question of recording Iplayer output. However he might be in trouble with his employer if he says anything here.

Tried this earlier today, but, as my MP3 player's only 'audio in' facility is via the mini-USB connector, and I don't have a 'USB to 3.5mm stereo jack adapter, I couldn't transfer a program to the Player from the station's I-player.  I may try the 'loop around' method as explained in one of the foregoing posts.
