Philips D7052 radio cassette

I picked this up from a car boot for £2  tape not working tuning pointer not moving.
First thing open the case ,simple just remove the 6 screws in the back do not try and remove any other knobs
Some one has been here before me the drive cord is off the tuning knob.
now for Philips the tuning drive is simple (still took 20 mins to restring)
the lack of tape operation was the TAPE/RADIO switch  witch came good with a squirt of servisol.
quality is not bad but then this is a proper Philips.

Those plastic Philips loudspeakers sound far better than you'd expect from looking at them. Never judge a book, and all that!

Interesting stringing/springing arrangement too...

You have to admire Philips for trying out some crazy ideas over the years. Some really good products out there, still giving good service

I think the last repair person "sic" had pulled out the tuning knob pulling the string off in the process the strange spring had fallen off.

Great complicated designs over the years, back to the Monoknob that I'm still working on but Philips never made a bad radio (or in your case tape / radio). This MK isn't aligned yet but already it has masses of RF gain. It may be the most sensitive pre-war radio that I have restored.
