i wounder if anyone knows where i can get a replacment dial lamp the best i can do is the one in the photo it fits and works ,but its twice the size of the original. also ideas for the paint round the grill?

if all eles fails its mottled siver gold i did think about hamerite silver? its a shame the cheery red cabinet came up fine.and i had to remove the grill cloth and wash it. the piping round the cloth had shunk but 1/4 hour with a hair drier and super glue fixed that

Hi Rob,

As i'm sure you are aware the original 240v 15w s.b.c pygmy bulb, caused many problems with the dial melting with the excessive heat the standard fitted mains pygmy lamps were 28mm diameter! and the heat generated caused the problem.

I think the smaller one had been fitted to get over this problem, so fitting the new larger one is just going to cause the original problem to be a risk again. hi yes i know about the overheating the reason this one is in good condition is because the bulb blew years ago i have tried a few white good shops and ebay. one shop had a smaller one but it was screw thead but even then it was bigger, may have to try and get a used one ,glad to say the owner is not in a rush for it
