Marantz CD52 Mk II CD player

I have a Marantz CD52 Mk II CD player as part of my main hifi system. Bought new many years ago. Must be over 25 years old. An excellent machine which I have no wish to replace. For the last few years it's often stuttered when opening the CD tray, today it failed completely with nasty mechanical noises. I opened it up for the first time ever and it was obvious that the plastic gearwheel that works against the rack on the CD tray was breaking up. See photo.

I was given a scrap CD52 a couple of years ago so I dug it out. Guess what. Its gearwheel is completely missing. I've never worked on a CD mech before but it didn't take much googling to find that I had a CDM4 mech and that spare gears were readily available:

All I have to do now is work out how to do the replacement which isn't immediately obvious. Probably worth replacing the electrolytics while I've got the lid off. Does anyone have the service manual and/or schematics?

Common fault on the CDM4 deck.
Order a couple just in case these are old stock as they still get brittle unused.

Gear arrived today. FItted it and it works fine. Job done.

I couldn't be bothered to do the re-cap as none were bulging and it works fine.

Don't know what the old one was made of but it now breaks up easily with finger pressure. It's a sort of orange colour. The new gear is white and looks like nylon or ABS. It certainly doesn't crumble under finger pressure. If it lasts the 25+ years that the old one did then that's fine by me.
