Decca TP85

I saw a Decca TP85 LW, MW, VHF transistor radio for sale in an antiques shop on Saturday. It looked pristine inside but not working, flat batteries or broken. It has AF116 four lead transistors which could need attention. I was quite tempted to buy it but it was in only average condition on the outside and quite expensive so I didnt bother. I'd like to work on a radio which would actually be useful like this having VHF.I restored a Bush TR82C recentley but MW is a dead loss here due to interference - much of it of my own making. If I take it out David into the coountry I can receive a few stations on it. David.

If you advertise here for a VHF capable portable somebody may well have one for disposal. The obvious one is the Bush VTR103, to keep your TR82 company. I have a Murphy B842 which my parents bought new in 1969. I use it by my desk every day. Lots of older Grundigs too.
