Huge Midwest chassis in a pretty cabinet.

Browsing around I found this:-

The cabinet is most likely not made by Midwest, they sold lots of chassis for others to build radios and grams with. It may not even be American though the style is very transatlantic.
However, it is a striking and unusual construction. The record deck is no longer there, it could of been a hinge out unit as access from the front seems limited.
Noted the barley sugar twist feet, correctly turned as left and right handed.
And then there is that chassis, I count 18 valves. I have not been able yet to determine which it is but it is surely worth saving, perhaps not at the advertised price though.
The speaker is strange, seems to have an energising coil from another speaker still in situ with a PM speaker. An earlier repair possibly.

I would hazard a guess that the old speaker magnet was kept as a smoothing choke when the PM speaker was fitted.

That would be the obvious reason, a bit crude to just leave it stuck there.
As to that schematic, it could be, there are lots of different Midwest chassis, but working off it would not be easy!
Radiomuseum list most of the chassis but sadly there are few photographs.

I like the tuning indicator in that schematic, looks like a saturated reactor job.
