Hi.
Interesting about the washing machine. When we were bringing up the three kids washing machines didn't last the pace, most were Indesit, we were lucky to get three years out of them. Better though than my parents Hoover Keymatic, one of the originals bought in the 60's that failed constantly, just after a year they bought a twin tub!!!
Anyway we bought a Bosch in 2004 and touch wood other than motor brushes and now a bit noisy still works OK.

Keith, that's a very early Quad 405. Mine is fairly early and dates from about 1980. Along with a 33, FM3 and my Fons CQ30 turntable. All in regular use.

One thing I forgot to mention was the Sony MZ-R30 Minidisc recorder I got in Milan in 1997 at the Sony European service competition, it still works although the display has died.

I forgot to add I have a Vidor Lady Anne radio which is used on a daily basis in the conservatory while having breakfast plus a Tandberg TCD310 from 1977 which gets occasional use.

I bought the 405, serial number 29413, in June 78 from a Hi-fi shop in Bangor. It's had the usual R7/R8 fault and a replacement mains transformer but apart from that it's still original! I also have a Quad 44 and FM4, bought in 1987, both of which have had their share of faults (mainly dry joints) but touch wood are still working.

I have a Belling No.83 convector heater. Had it from new (late 1950's) and use it every winter.

That reminds me that I have a Philips fan heater that I'm pretty sure is from the 1960s. Used occasionally for some localised heat when it's not worth turning on the central heating.

Being fair, I still use my wife's grandfather's watch, which dates from 1953, and a clock made from the propeller of his Bristol F2.B from WW1 - the propeller is massive - it's bolted on the wall with a plate I had made up by the local blacksmith and fixed through the wall onto an RSJ with 12mm studding

The centre of the clock face is a metal relief of his F2.B with the hand where the prop would be, and each quarter of an hour numeral is a relief of a type of plane he flew. The mechanism is set into the hub of the prop which is about 10ft across...

if you're talking about ELECTRICAL equipment, then I have a WWII MOD 5C/3023 switch unit from a Mosquito or Firefly which controls my workshop lights... picked it up years ago in an MOD sale, NIB.

Awesome to hear about one of those still in working condition.
