This little transistor set came in a batch of abandoned shop repairs and has got a shop repair label on it and as found it was in bits.
The poor set is a basket case with twiddler evidence in there too.
As is a basket case I got out the basket for the photo shoot
I have got the audio running and begun to work my way through transistors checking that they are all OK and then I will make up a jig to set up the IF cans again.
I have checked them all and they are not broken badly enough that they can't be set up again.

Well you save sets I wouldn't bother with. Can you find homes for them? Perhaps you keep them all?

I really like the picture of all the bits in the Basket
There were dozens, hundreds possibly, of these little sets made, and I quite like the idea of saving few for posterity.

I decided to get it going as it is the oldest internet radio I have ever seen and there is enough bits left to do it.
The first set out of this newly acquired pile of bits was a French set that actually sounds as good as a TR82.

The other one is a Paramount 7 that needed little work and it was all done in half an hour.
Both of these small sets still have the carry cases making them worth a little more effort.
I am not expecting to get more than one out of the Fidelity sets though.

It is no longer a basket case.
I have found out what attracted the twiddler and fixed it.
An aerial wire had taken a little nip against the edge of the PCB and was held together by the cotton stuff in the wire. Twiddler failed to spot it.
The twiddled coils could do with a final tune up and that is it.
I need to look into a signal generator of some kind perhaps I could re-purpose the mixer/oscillator on a PCB from another basket case that looks like it is a write off.
The oscillator does run but the ferrite rod is totally smashed so that it could be a donor for a small signal generator/pantry transmitter.

I would go for early 1970s as the transistors are silicon NPN with only paint spots to indicate what type they are and all the VBEs are 0.6 volts except the output pair that are germanium PNP.
Certainly the oldest internet we have found so far. I wonder if there is anything internet that is older.
