I suggested that valve in post #5: a Nuvistor ≡ a 6CW4.
It was the introduction of the transistor that prevented the Nuvistor from becoming a much widely used device.

I don't think that Lawrence would allow that category as a valid entry: refer to post #1: "ordinary receiver/amplifier type valves". Which, of course, also rules out things like klystrons and travelling wave tubes (TWTs).

The Russians bought a lot of the old Mullard/Philips factory lines and moved them to St. Petersburg & elsewhere.

Lots of tubes are still actively made in Russia & China - especially audio tubes.

There are also small shops doing handmade bespoke manufacture (at correspondingly enormous prices).

Don't forget that the MIG 25 ("Foxbat"), a much feared Russian interceptor with a top speed of Mach 2.83, had tubes in its most of its avionics, including the lovely 6C33c (one of my personal favourites).

Loads in China they are still making tube/valve domestic radios by all accounts.

I reckon the 300B has kept a fair few in work over the years, some people go bonkers over them.
