This subject cropped up while doing an Ebay search, this particular R 1082 receiver came up as listed and it's location was given as Oregon,U.S. I contacted Andy (up north) of this forum by PM as I knew he had an interest in aircraft receivers, further discusions led to the question of how this particular receiver might have ended up there, my initial thoughts were maybe he/she is an ex pat. The question was also raised as to wether or not these receivers were used by the RCAF during the war, the answer seems to be yes they were, a subsequent search on the web returned a site showing that at least on one occasion they were also used by the Canadian Army
in this instance the records seem to show that one was used as part of an installation at Nanaimo on Vancouver Island which is on the correct side for Oregon as it were.

If you look down the page on the left hand side there is a link to the Pacific Communications Circuit, opening that reveals a plan of that circuit and the receivers and transmitters used at the various stations.
Scrolling further down the initiall page in the above link gives details of all the transmitters and receivers concerned with the Canadian Army.
