i bought this from auction for£10 +p+p because i dont have one and it looked nice.
the first thing i was amazed at the lack of components later finding that 35 of them are in two moduals that look like thick film units but are in fact small boards with tubular components covered with plaster?
the original battery plug had been removed and the wires seperated into two sets red and black/yellow and brown this was strange as the HT should be +red -yellow and the LT +brown -black.
appling power got nothing .ckecking with a meter i could not find the LT+ on the wave change switch witch is also the power switch.so out with the board,to do this first remove the 3 knobs then undo the to bolts either side of the dial there are 2 4ba nuts onthe board side,the board will then drop out.next job is to remove the metal plate that covers the back of the board ,remove the 4 6ba nuts the 4ba bolt from the tuning cap and finaly the nut from the wave change switch .the plate will now come off be carefull with the spacers and the pointer.
having gained access to the board i found the wave change switch was dry jointed on nearly every pin, haveing put that right i applied power but it was still dead first check was the voltatage around the dl96 96 volt on the anode, 0 volts on the grid ,1.5 volts on the heaters as i had already checked the output tx i expected some sighn of life so changed the dl96 ,at last crackel signal injector proving the out put stage was working ,i then found that injecting a signal at the daf96 bought very little so in goes a new daf96 i now had hiss after this i changed the df96 there was now a click when the wave change switch was turned and a horrid noise at on end of the tuning range so onto the dk96 witch turned out to be another df96! fitting the corect valve finaly bought a station on long wave but any move ment of the board and it would go, yes another bad joint this time on the 1st if transformer.the set was now in working order but i did a mass soldering job just in case.
i would love to know what happened to the valves as the heaters were all intact and still had there rubber band retainers on even the incorect df96, it was quicker to repair than wright this and it works very well pulling in loads of stations on mw and 3 on lw on its own frame aerial

if its made by hand it can be repaired by hand
