Good places to grab transistors?

Hello dennishoy, I used them too a couple of times.....though find it best to email them before ordering as they can be a little scant on information (brands of transistors mainly). but a good "go-to" seller.

And if I haven't mentioned it before, I trawled your website way back when you joined the forum, and your little kits and PCBs look very nice and fill a special niche, so I hope that's working out well. It makes it clear why you're interested in vintage transistors and components, and even SRBP PCB sheet:omg:

I just love that phenolic smell it gives off when you saw, drill or file it, but then I like to sniff felt tip pens too! There's probably a name for people like me, but 'junkie' seems a bit strong! It's a long time since I've made PCBs from SRBP because the copper doesn't seem to adhere to it too well and caution when soldering is called for, but you'll know that anyway Brook. Rummaging about in my unfinished project box today, I've found a transistor curve tracer PCB that I etched from SRBP and built, then forgot about. It has all the bits needed to finish it, so maybe I'll box it up and see if it works!

SRBP: is that the same as what I know as SRBF - silicon resin bonded fibre? And what does the "P" stand for in SRBP?

It's Synthetic Resin Bonded Paper.

Ah-Ha! Thank you Alan.

As a material to use in our hobby, I like SRBF. It's easy to work, has good mechanical strength and good electrical properties. And I agree with David about the aroma that is exuded during the cutting of it. Mmmm! :P

I just love that phenolic smell it gives off when you saw, drill or file it! There's probably a name for people like me, but 'junkie' seems a bit strong!

And the same smell is even stronger when I miscalculated and put 5W through a 2W wirewound resistor on the board.
