Fixitnow is right., the C5/C6 "cloverleaf" is a good choice as it's smaller than the commonplace "kettle" C13/C14 connector. The cable sets are widely available, though not quite as common as C13/C14.

Yes, the cloverleaf is a goodish choice though some cables with 2 pin sockets will fit, eek!

I was in once UK bungalow where incoming Live & Neutral reversed. UK the neutral usually earthed only at substation and no assurance it's safe to touch, especially in rural areas with overhead wires etc.
In Ireland every meter has the the neutral bonded to an at least 4' (1.2m) nearby earth spike, also earth and neutral linked there. It means adding an RF earth on a radio doesn't need a 1nF to 10nF Y rated cap as it often does in UK.

Although we use the terms "live" and "neutral" all the time, the wiring regulations define both these conductors as "live". What we casually call "live" is called "phase".

In the UK the traditional arrangments are TNS (separate earth, neutral earthed at substation) for underground feeds, TT (no earth provided, fit your own earth rod) for overhead. Nowadays many supplies are TNC-S, also known as PME. The neutral is earthed in many places, the earth in your house is linked to the neutral.

All systems have their problems and merits. Probably best to start a new thread if we want to discuss this further, so as not to detract from the OP's question.

The important point is that you cannot truly rely on a neutral to be safe to touch. Usually it is safe, so all the more chances to catch the unwary on the occasions it isn't.
