Around the beginning of the year my landline was out of service for a couple of weeks until an Openreach engineer called and rectified a fault in a junction box in the street outside. What puzzles me is that yesterday when I checked for any missed calls, a recorded message on 1471 told me that my memory was full, so i went through maybe 10 missed call messages and cleared them one by one. Most were from the time when my line was unusable -no dial tone. How were the messages able to be stored when the line was dead, and dialling 1471 produced no response?
