Orchard Electric Sprayer KSR-80 switch problem!

The problem is that someone had used superglue to secure the knob to the switch shaft, with the inevitable result that some of the glue had seeped into the switch, so a replacement is needed.  On inspection , the switch turns out to be a standard 4-pole, 3-way rotary type, and I have an identical one with which to replace it.   At first i thought this would be simple, especially as only two of the poles are used, and it is hard wired, so no PCB involved.  However, having traced the commections, and found that one pole is used to switch a resistor chain, 3 x 500 ohm in series, and a 1500 ohm at the 'top' of the chain, I'm wondering if the switch had been modified to be a 2-pole 6-way type, but can't find any info. on the 'net about this machine.    Un fortunately I can't scan & post diagrams as my scanner won't work with W10, but if I've drawn the switch connections correctly, then the only thing which makes sense is a 2-pole 6-way switch.  Does anyone know anything about these sprayers?

I've been resisting the temptation to upgrade to W10 so far but I thought Microsoft claimed that all your existing peripherals would still work with W10?

I've got a Cannon Lide-60 scanner which works with W7 but not my wife's W8 machine (although there is a workaround posted on the net for this, but we haven't tried it).

I'm now concerned that I will now have to buy yet another scanner if I go for W10 ...

What scanner have you got - and what were you using it with before you went to W10? 

As for your switch modification theory, have the end stop positions been modified to give 6 positions?

To answer your question about scanners, Terry, I have two, a PC Line PCL 3000, and a Trust Combi Scan, both maybe 10 or more years old by now. They were originally used with a Windows XP equipped machine, then late last year, when I got my present PC, with W7. Both worked OK on W7, but apparently they cannot be configured to work with W10.
Regarding the rotary switch in the Sprayer control unit, the thought that it may have been adjusted to become a 2pole-6way switch did occur to me. It's one of those modern 'Lorlin' or similar plastic encapsulated types, which I know to have adjustable end stop positions, as does the new switch I'll be fitting, so I may re-set the new one to 2p6W, though I'm not a great fan of 'Lorlin' switches, and would rather use one of the older, metal bodied, rotary switches if I could get one!

Further to the above, I have now established that the original selector switch was adusted to become a 2pole-6way version, so I'll either change the setting of a 4pole-3way similar switch I already have, or get a new 2p6w one.

A 4-pole 3-way can be used as a 2-pole 6-way or a 1-pole 12-way if you can move the end stops.

All you can do with a 3-pole 4-way is a 1-pole 12-way.

Of course, you can adjust the end stop to reduce the range of any of these - a 1-pole-10-way and so on, if needed
