Having replaced all 3 AF117s in the 800T, one with an AF127 I had, the other two with GT322As, the radio is now working with no sign of instability, whilst powered from a PP3. I also replaced various electrolytics, amongst them C7, C8, C9, C13 & C21. The radio seems a little insensitive, picking up only Radio 5 live and Radio 4, the latter on LW. On other AM radios I can receive, besides the above, Talksport, Absolute Radio, R. Gloucester, R. Wales, and France Inter, all at good strength, so something is still amiss. I haven't checked or adjusted VR1, a preset which sets the operating point of VT2, the 1st. I.F. amp. (now an AF127), so it may well be worth so doing before putting the chassis back in it's case.

I may well do that, Trevor. Tweaking VR1 brings a slight improvmnt, but this radio is still not as sensitive as I feel it should be
