I've seen kpF (= 1,000pF =1nF) used on ERT sheets, which seems insane.

kpF was used to avoid writing zeros. The nano- prefix didn't really come into widespread use until the 1970s.

All the capacitors are now soldered in. There are one or two Spragues and the majority are the Red Wima ones which are fairly cheap and easy to get at high voltage.

The time draws near to test the radio but I've been taking my time with it.

It's been very good for learning more about Potentiometer wiring which had me a bit confused some weeks ago. So, now with the switch on, I'm getting 50 Ohms between live and neutral and Infinity on off. I was a bit concerned over the 50 Ohms as one article I found stated Ohms should be 200 or around. Then later I found some repairers who had gotten 50 ohms as well and they were saying that was O.K. So, hopefully things have moved forwards.

Another big concern till later today was my KT61 had a missing pin. I feared I'd been the cause as it was a hell of a job to remove the valve. However, now I can see my schematic leaves a blank pin on the KT61. It indicates this is normal, I think.

Lastly - a hollow dogbone resistor. I assumed it has been gutted but in fact it does measure a high resistance and I find these types do exist.

I won't be plugging in without a great deal of care. It may be wise perhaps to remove all the tubes and see if the transformer is O.K.?? This won't be happening till I double check everything and clean it up a bit more.

This was a lot harder than the GEC. I've no idea if I'll be successful but I gave it my best shot. I read last night there are two almost identical HMV sets and one is 1950 while the other is 1953.
