It's me again! If you havn't got the EMMR manual for the AR88 then it might be worth downloading, it's more comprehensive and also gives simplified circuit diagrams which are a lot easier to follow.

Coming along slowly, mainly because I don't want to make a mistake.
The Xtal filter indeed seems fine, the big problem will possibly be the noise limiter, but will sort that when I come to it, PS, just found R42 was shorted one end to a chassis pin.
