Some of the Russian ones use rods. They are generally easy to spot from their construction but the biggest giveaway (although not 100%) is that the rod pentodes have an anode lead at the opposite end from the other connections. They tend to be long and thin too whereas their non-rod valves look more like equivalent western types.

Nice offer indeed.
Might be interested given time. Right now totally bogged down with other work so projects temporarily on hold, also heating the shed now very expensive, the lasted fuel bill is scary.
