Actually fax is very vintage indeed, predating the phone by several decades. First demonstrated by Bain in 1846: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fax#History
I still have a fax modem attached to my main PC and one of my printers can work as a fax machine. Can't remember when I last sent or received a fax. Probably over 5 years ago.
