Regarding the extending button - just ignore/remove the existing one and solder some fly-leads to a proper push-button somewhere else. Also, I see that Atlas now have a "DCA 75 Pro" which plots curves for semiconductor devices as well: http://www.peakelec.co.uk/acatalog/dca75-dca-pro.html Maybe.... just maybe....

I did consider that Nick, but as the board has tiny plated through holes, I tempered my enthusism with discretion, though I'm sure I could have blobbed a couple of thin wires across the switch contacts to short them out with a momentary push bottom switch. Great little bit of kit - nicely made and all functions work fine. Really, the pics on the e-bay link don't do justice to it.

I gave in weeks ago and ordered one, it arrived today, but was a little worried to see it pop through the letter box in just a Jiffy bag and a bit of bubble wrap but it seems to have survived the journey ok. Now for the enclosure; can't do comb joints thouigh!

My turn - just ordered one! Postage to Switzerland was $3 so I'm not expecting it to arrive quickly.
Cheers, John

Mine arrived a few days ago. I think I messed up my order - got the one without the backlight. Still, it works just fine.
Anyone have ideas on a good case for it? The fact that it's a split level two board layout makes it a bit tricky to find a case that will take it as-is. Separating the two boards then gets us into ribbon cables between the boards, etc. As Yorkie mentioned, there is not a lot of room for soldering on this thing - the pads are very small. I did some comparison measurements on inductance with my Peak LCR40 - will post some photos later. Cheers, John

Mine arrived yesterday and I'm currently getting on with making a box for it.

Neat little gizmo eh guys?
I've got several instruments which measure capacitance, inductance and test transistors, including a Peak transistor tester I bought some years ago when there was little else on offer. They all give broadly the same results as this little jobby. It's handy having several functions in one unit, especially when it's so unfussy about which leads are used, and isn't polarity sensitive. Auto shut off after about 20 secs too. I've used mine quite a lot since I got it and the battery drain seems minimal. It first come up with the battery test and after a month, still says Batt OK - 8.4V. A real bargain at the price. Look forward to seeing yours boxed Joe and John. As Nick said, if you're careful and quick, it shouldn't be too difficult to blob two wires across the PCB switch contacts to fit a separate panel-mounted push button switch.
Regards, David.
