There are 2 Tek ICs in the DM63, but they used a superior English Electric CRT (ducks!)

I hope to get back to the SMG40 thread one day. Having repaired it and calibrated it as best as I can with the gear I have here, I need to put it to the test. I haven't checked yet, but am hoping it'll work with my old HP8656A...

It's hopeless. There's a pair of mid-1950s models, a 541, 545, 549, 506, 310A. 7904, 3 or 4 76-somethings (one is my bench scope) and probably more I'm forgetting. I just found a new home for a 7504 and cart, and gave away a 585, and I think I also gave away a dual-beam with the external power supply. I'd gladly find them all new homes but someone has to be caretaker for a decade or three when nobody wants them.

That's quite a collection: have you ever tried to estimate how much those instruments would cost if you'd bought them new? (or perhaps you did!)

If you have one channel of your 7A26 working, I'd suggest you plug it into the LH slot of the main-frame with the LH side-cover removed.  You can then check the AC and DC's of the two channels with, say, a 40mV p-p signal applied to both and the inputs set at 5mV/div. You should get close to 40mV p-p out of the FET follower (R150)*. By progressing down the signal path you should find where things have gone awry.  Most problems with my Y amps have been associated with the input attenuators, and in two instances, a bizarre component failure whereby a  small white tubular ceramic capacitor (c 2pF) has grown to about 10x the value!

I have already got it down to a suspect capacitor. The offset is appearing after the first stage of amplification where there are a number of those tubular capacitors to check out in the HF comp part of the circuit. I also have a bench power supply with center tapped outputs that could easily be clipped onto the test points so that is just less effort than taking the frame down from its new home.

A lovely selection. I also like the Tek 500 series testgear plugin system.  A bit long in the tooth now but very flexible and compact.
However, you have three frames there of the later 5000 series, all of which had fans (unlike the 500 series).  With those three on it would have been like having a hoover in front of you as you worked!
