I am glad I had training many years ago on how to use a scope. In my last job we had the scope which I have now. It transpired that, although it was seldom needed anyway, no-one else had any experience and just didn't know how to use it. It ended up being good for me. I have found the cheap probes work Ok for my needs. I don't have the tools to check the scope calibration with any degree of accuracy anyway but the inbuilt calibration waveform check seems Ok
I'm glad you found the extra probe. At least it gets you going. Mini adjustment tools seem to vary quite a bit. Apart from the correct item for different components I make a point of saving all the little screwdriver sets from Christmas crackers as well as having a decent jewellers screwdriver set. It needs care with some things as they are fragile (big NO on ferrite cores) but a range of tools usually provides one that fits well.
