Here's a picture. You can just about make out the "PL50" stamped on the business end. On the terminal spikes there is a clipped-on croc clip for the ground and I made up a simple temporary fly lead for the input terminal just with a wire shoved into a bit of tubing. The two spikes are differing diameters, the ground being thicker presumably to prevent incorrect orientation.
Not obvious from the photo but the other end has a shielded banana input pin with a banana ground pin which is visible, all moulded into one block. This provides a shielded connection to the two banana terminals on the instrument.
So at the business end I can imagine a push-on probe assembly but it's so long ago since I last used one of these at work that I really can't recall how it was done. I can't believe it was all done just with two terminal spikes.
