Just realised that my unit, bought from Amazon UK, is actually being shipped from China. This leaves the VAT position a bit unclear. I though that Amazon required their non EU vendors to pay all relevant fees and taxes so that buyers don't get any nasty surprises. This discussion leaves it all a bit open to doubt.

If you look at the seller's details the ebay seller that Nick bought from is actually in China despite saying they are in Manchester.
