I lashed out on a Rigol DS2072A. Now hacked to 200MHz and all the options opened up. It's expensive, but the display is very good indeed (800x480, 8" diagonal).
I had tried the smaller scopes such as the budget Rigol (DS1052E) and the Tek TDS2004 but those small, low-definition LCD screens drove me mad, with my older eyesight.
I think the less-expensive Rigol DS1054Z is worth looking at as it can easily be "updated" hem-hem to 100MHz and all options and has the big screen.
If you look at the excitable Mr Davey Jones of EEVblog, he loves the Rigols!
