I'm resurecting this thread again, it's gotten so long that I have forgotton what's been said and which way I'm going with this...
RF Amp: Pentode or Cascode Triodes?
I am asuming that a cascode rf stage would give better isolation between the antenna and the osc/mixer stage? I need to minimise the risk of pulling on strong signals and/or the antenna flopping around in the wind.
I am not to worried about the merits of the stage gain between the two different types of RF amp, I am more concerned with RF/Osc isolation and RF selectivity in order to improve the image ratio.
All thoughts welcome.
Lawrence.
