Many years ago, if you needed to measure R.F. currents, a thermo-couple meter was about the only way of doing that - if you wanted reliable, consistent and reasonably accurate measurements. Of course, when semi-conductors came along, soon followed by ones with good R.F. performance, diode bridges and m.c. meters became the norm. And that was a real blessing, since I am sure that some of us here know - and know only too well - it is very easy to burn out a t/c meter movement: an overload of as little as 25% is not untypical to do that
