Hello David,
Thanks for the info , In the Radiophile summer 2000 Gary Tempest has put 12 pages of how to repair and fitt a new meter to the mk1 and mk 2 Avo valve tester the meter is from Maplins no YJ96E. I am testing all the Resistors and cleaning the valve bases today. For me the Avo is a good valve tester but it takes me over 15 mins to test a valve. But the one you are talking of with the spot test is a mullard tester and you put the card in and it says if the valve is good or bad. I like the Taylor tester and £10.00 in 1995 was a good price. on Ebay today an Avo Valve Data book went for £34.00 and it was from 1957 its mad that People are paying this kind of price for books and from £400 to £1000 for a Tester.
Regards Kevin.
