Hi Col, I did some veneering years ago, I used Cascamite, glues really well and is a water based mix and doesn't creep, could you not make a form for the curve to help it on its way, the top front of the cabinet is a pure radius from the looks of it, maybe a pipe of the same radius, clamp the veneer on, wet and form round the pipe so far as the quadrant point plus a little bit?
Burr will expand a lot when wetted, you have to think about how it is grown.
I am not a great fan of traditional glues, I find the modern glues easier and quicker to use and are much stronger.
