Yes, I went and picked it up this morning - headed off at 6.30am. The seller is a nice guy who has been in the vintage radio and instrument business for many years and he said the tester was his own and he'd used it for over 20 years until he got a more sophisticated one. His place was like an Aladdin's cave of old radio and instrument gear. A nice contact to have if I'm looking for something specific in the future.
The tester itself is not in perfect condition which was clear from the photo on eBay but he assures me it was working up to the point when he stopped using it a few years ago. Anyway, restoring it is part of the fun for me. It comes with a photocopy of the user manual though it's pretty well 'thumbed' over the years. I'll scan it and see if I can clean it up a bit. I'll upload a few photos later.
As a bonus I had the pleasure of driving through some of the most stunning scenery around. If any of you guys have ever driven in or out of Geneva on the A40 (autoroute blanche) toward Lyon you'll know what I mean.
Now, time for some 'brunch'.........
Cheers, John
