Thanks Steve,

Yes the brightness of the beam is set to minimum. I've identified the timebase board. I've noticed that when messing with the sweep controls the beam will sweep very briefly so I'm hoping this means the 'power' end of things is OK and it is at an earlier stage that things are dead.

Hopefully I'll get some time for it at the weekend and find out where the problem lies.
