Test Gear required for radio repair

When I was at school, the school owned an Austin 7 which was used for driving lessons around the school property (Girls Netball court). For a small payment the Deputy Head gave half hour lessons after school.
I wouldn't have minded that as a freebie considering today's value.
I can't remember any electronics gear only woodworking and metalworking tools. I think the girls made cakes which they were allowed to take home.
