Hi all,
Thanks for replies. Can't upload pic at moment but it is a type EC2100D for use with EC1201 iron only (24v 45W).
It has a digital display and set/read switch for temp.
I repaired it a couple of years ago by making repairs to smd pcb tracks but now pcb is past that.
It seems that the Maplins unit is for a 240v iron so no good there.
Have had a look at pwm units for dc motors and that seems to be the way to go?
I agree with Rob T, I have used the magnetic type Weller at work and they are very good however this iron is (was) fully adjustable over 60 to 400 degrees.
Also, any ideas where to get spare bits?
