Hi,
My ageing weller temp controlled iron is finally given up the ghost. The power supply is faulty and delving inside lead me to charred pcb and non replaceable components.
I have now 2 options, either use a home brew power supply based on the transformer and with a pulse width modulation system built around a 555 and some cmos logic and mosfet output.
Or replace it with a newer one sourced from an auction site.
Can anyone suggest a decent modern one that is not too expensive. I was given a maplins cheap version last year but the iron is useless.
Perhaps it would be possible to use the psu from the maplins unit to power my weller iron?
Regards,
Rob
