In one sense, I don't suppose that distortion is all that important - what matters is whether the genny puts out a signal on the desired frequency, which can be peaaked on alignment. When I say 'desired frequency' I don't mean what's indicated on the dial, but what is observed from the sig genny on a frequency counter - the two observations rarely being the same!
