I'm glad I've never been good at catching things. After a couple of near misses I've learned the lesson.
I used to disconnect the earth on my Weller TCP50 and put in a resistor. Then I could solder on low voltage circuits without worrying about shorting things to earth. The resistor ensured that the bit wasn't floating with 50Hz leakage. I admit I'm not certain if the transformer was genuinely Class 2 insulated. I wouldn't try this deliberately with higher voltages.
